Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!

Blog Prompt: Describe your sleeping style. Are you a side sleeper, snoring on your back sleeper, wake at the slightest sound sleeper, sprall across the bed and sleep through an earthquake sleeper?

Slipping between the sheets is one of my favorite times of the day, or should I say night. I'm one of those people that falls asleep quickly, and can then sleep through almost anything. This isn't always the case, but usually it holds true.

I have sleep apnea and have to use a cpap machine when I sleep. When I went in for my sleep study, they found out that I woke up about every 2.5 - 3 minutes. I thought I was sleeping all through the night! However, waking up in the morning was so difficult, and I was always tired during the day.

I would watch a television show or movie and always fall asleep during it. When we would rent a movie, my husband would ask why I wanted to watch such and such a movie again, and I would tell him that we'd never seen it. Turned out, he had watched the movie, but I had fallen asleep soon after the opening credits, and couldn't remember having rented it. The doctor was surprised that I had never fallen asleep driving. He put me put on medication for narcalepsy until I was on the cpap for a few weeks and my sleeping balanced out.

I no longer sleep sitting straight up, and our life is so much better. Lack of sleep makes both you and your mate very grouchy, and can lead to a lot of arguments. We don't have those anymore, and we both feel healthier and better rested.

So, how do I sleep now? I usually sleep on my left side, or back, and don't take up too much space on the bed. We have four dogs, and they all share the bed with us, usually plastered up against me. Buster, the smallest dog usually sleeps on my feet or up on my pillow by my head. Misty, is medium-sized, and she sleeps along my knees and calves, pressed as closed as possible to me. Nina and Reece are the big dogs, and one of them is usually against my torso. Nina tries to get as close to me as possible, and has pushed me off the bed numerous times, in her effort to get closer. People think we are crazy to allow them up on the bed, but it didn't seem too bad when they were puppies. And now we have the added benefit of warmth. Joe likes the room cool, and I tend to get very cold. So the dogs give me extra warmth during the cold spells. I think that is all the room that I need. I've noticed that when I take a nap, I still take up just my area of the bed. I don't spray my body across it. Just used to it I guess.

I am also a very sound sleeper. I usually go to sleep with the television on. The noise doesn't bother me at all. One morning, Joe asked about the dogs barking the night before. I had no idea what he was talking about. He said that they were standing on the bed and barking after a light flashed on the wall. I never heard a sound. But, when my mom was terminal, she lived with us, and we put a monitor in her room, so she could let us know whenever she needed something. I would go to sleep and if she said anything during the night, I would hear her. At one point, she listened to big band music day and night. It drove me nuts. Any sound from her room would waken me, including the music. Now, I would give anything to hear that music again.
